Incidents from the Pali Canon

a series of talks by Sangharakshita

Although delivered only to members of the Western Buddhist Order at the time, 'Incidents from the Pali Canon' will be of great interest to anyone concerned to discover the nature of commitment in Buddhism - not least because, let's face it, some of the ideas explored are certainly controversial, and clearly intended (and likely) to provoke debate! All that aside, there is some very good stuff here as Sangharakshita goes forensic on some incidents from the Buddha’s life as recorded in the Pali Canon.

N.B. References for these lectures: 'Some Sayings of the Buddha', translated by F.L. Woodward (Buddhist Society, London, 1973).

Series given in 1982-83
