The Six Distinctive Emphases of the FWBO: Ecumenical and Unified

by Manjuvajra (2002)

This is the second of a four talk series exploring the six distinctive emphases of the FWBO's approach to Buddhism, as defined by its founder Urgyen Sangharakshita. Manjuvajra takes a look at the first two: ecumenism (within the Buddhist sphere) and the unity of the FWBO itself. In principle, and in contrast with other approaches to contemporary Buddhism, any approach to the Dharma that conduces to a deepening of spiritual practice will be valued in the FWBO context. As well as this, involvement and membership of the FWBO is open to all, irrespective of gender, colour, sexual orientation, lifestyle, or any other personal characteristic.

Talk given at Padmaloka Retreat Centre, 2002
