Sometimes our energies are too tightly wound and sometimes our energies are too slack. How can we recognize when our energies are flowing naturally and in a balanced way, neither too tight nor too loose? In the Sona Sutta (Anguttara Nikaya 6.55), the Buddha uses the analogy of the lute string while teaching Sona the art of balancing effort on the spiritual path.
