In this talk Aryavacin explores the symbolism of the Buddhas of the Western quarter of the Mandala - Amitābha and Pāndaravāsinī - following Bhante's well known vision of Amitabha during his days as a freelance wanderer in Southeast India during the late 1940s. The Buddhist tradition offers a lineage of compassion through Amitābha, Avalokiteśvara and Ārya Tara that responds to the cries of the world as a fruit of our collective tapasya or practice as a spiritual community.
