Pathways to the Beautiful Mind: Introduction to the Theme of the Bristol Buddhist Centre Rains Retreat

by Vajradevi

Vajradevi introduces the theme of the retreat, exploring the ‘beautiful’ or ‘kalyana’ mind. She explores the dimensions of ‘the kalyana’, with reference to the five spiritual faculties (or indriyas), which fit well with the Satipatthana. With mindfulness in a central position, they provide a framework for how we work with our minds, particularly in the areas of receptivity and spiritual death. It's interesting to note that the word ‘indriya’ denotes both spiritual faculties but also sense faculties and Vajradevi explores the origin of the word and the significance of this.

This talk is part of the series Pathways to the Beautiful Mind: Bristol Rains Retreat 2019.
