The Urban Buddha, Restoring the Ancient City

The Buddha described his project as being like following an overgrown path, and restoring the ruined city he finds. Ratnaprabha explains this image, and considers Buddhist attitudes to cities. Was Buddhism a product of urbanisation? In a later myth, Gandhakuti, the ideal city where perfect wisdom is taught, is described.
