Over the next year, we'll be conducting a comprehensive re-imagining of this section of our site, but we've already got some exciting new developments to unveil:

If you’re interested in helping us transcribe the rest of the audio material on this site (your favourite talk, for example), please do volunteer! It’d be a great help.

history of these transcriptions

Many of the texts contained within these pages come from a remarkable project conducted over 25 years or so by Dharmachari Silabhadra, who set out to transcribe all of the seminars, talks, and question-and-answer sessions by his teacher, Urgyen Sangharakshita. It was a truly impressive piece of sustained work, and we are very happy to be able to offer full access to the material now via Dharmachakra.

Please bear in mind when reading that the process of transcribing crackly old recordings is fraught with difficulty. There is a high degree of accuracy here — mainly due to Silabhadra's painstaking checking and re-checking of the material; but you should remember that mistakes are also inevitable! It's also good to be aware that when Sangharakshita quotes from Buddhist texts, other works of literature or people, it is often from memory — so, again, there may be inaccuracies. Readers should always check the original sources. Second edition seminars have had these sources checked and they have been corrected where necessary.

We hope you'll enjoy browsing all of the transcribed material in the archive — and we'd like to acknowledge again the generosity of both Sangharakshita and Silabhadra in allowing us to make the fruits of their labours available online to all who are engaged with studying and exploring the Dharma.

We’re also delighted to acknowledge here the great efforts of Sarvasiddhi, and numerous volunteers, for all their work with transcription over the years.
