Come and See for Yourself
July 16th, 2012
Today’s FBA Dharmabyte “Come and See for Yourself” is a selected Dharmabyte from the talk “Introducing Buddhism” delivered to teacher-training students in 1966. In this excerpt, Sangharakshita explores tolerance and the freedom to grow and shows that there is no place for God in Buddhism. The full talk serves as an excellent general introduction to Buddhism.

Kalu asked us old timers not to be shy, so here’s semtohing I have learned:When every step on the path is a dance, filled with curiosity and the wonder of discovery, this kind of spiritual boredom will not arise. Telescopes to explore the Heavens are pipes, so are microscopes, revealing the wonders of what is hidden. So are flutes and thighbone trumpets.Boredom is a lack of love, because love actively seeks to know, and with love, the search becomes exciting!Doing the practices as if you are filling out your tax forms just to get them done won’t get you far. What works is interest, curiosity, joy and a sense of adventure. If you worry that you are doing it wrong, then you are. If you do it innocently like a child you won’t need much correction. Don’t chase results, let them come to you, because you are already the result.best to allKYG
