Bodhimitra erläutert in diesem grundlegenden Vortrag Sangharakshitas Erkenntnis von der Zentralität der Zufluchtnahme. Zufluchtnahme ist die Essenz aller buddhistischen Praxis. Bodhimitra erklärt die verschiedenen Ebenen von Zufluchtnahme, von der provisorischen bis hin zur absoluten Zufluchtnahme. Außerdem beschreibt er verschiedene Aspekte der Zufluchtnahme, z.B. der individuelle und der altruistische Aspekt. Bodhimitra erklärt kurz den Zusammenhang zwischen den Ebenen der Zufluchtnahme und Sangharakshitas Begriff der höheren Evolution.

Der Vortrag wurde 1996 im Buddhistischen Zentrum Essen gehalten.
