Die Poesie der frühen Mönche und Nonnen

Dieser Vortrag ist der letzte in der Reihe „Der Buddha und seine Schüler “. Er behandelt die ca. 300 Gedichte der Theras und Theris („die Älteren“) aus dem frühen Palikanon, der u.a. durch den Dhammapada bekannt ist.

Der Vortrag vermittelt die ursprüngliche und lebendige Ausdruckskraft der Sprache jener „Nonnen und Mönche“, die Wanderer und Suchende waren und kein klösterlich geregeltes Leben führten. Dharmapriya zeichnet ein anschauliches Bild der Zeit. Die Gedichte beeindrucken durch den Ausdruck unbedingter Entschlossenheit für den spirituellen Weg und schonungsloser Ehrlichkeit gegenüber den erheblichen Schwierigkeiten. Es ist spannend, in diese Welt einzutauchen.

Der Vortrag wurde 1999 im buddhistischen Zentrum Essen gehalten.
