Les hommes frappés de peur vont en maints refuges, dans les collines, les bois, les jardins, les arbres et les temples.

Mais un tel refuge n'est pas sûr, un tel refuge n'est pas suprême; recourant à un tel refuge, on n'est pas libéré de tout mal.

Celui qui cherche refuge dans le Bouddha, le Dhamma et le Sangha, voit avec une juste connaissance les Quatre Compréhensions Libératrices.

La souffrance, la cause de la souffrance, le passage au delà de la souffrance et l'Octuple sentier qui mène à la cessation de la souffrance.

Ceci, vraiment est le sûr refuge; ceci, vraiment, est le refuge suprême. Cherchant un tel refuge, on est libéré de la souffrance.
