As the culmination of the Eightfold Path to Nirvana, Samadhi here is not just meditation, but establishment in Enlightenment. Intermediate between this state and meditation as tranquillity (samatha) are the samapatti experiences. Sangharakshita discusses all three as stages in higher consciousness.
